What to put in my pharmacy to always be ready to face all eventualities in case of minor injuries to treat? 🤕
The goal here is to always have on hand the basic materials necessary to provide first aid to our horses. Of course, we advise you to always consult a veterinarian at the slightest doubt. 🧑⚕️
1. In case of wounds?
If a wound is benign, it should not be neglected. It is essential to clean it effectively to prevent complications from arising. In this case, do not hesitate to apply a healing spray or balm, an aluminum spray that will create a protective barrier between the wound and external aggressions (sweat, urine, dust, etc.), a spray bandage, etc. 🤯
2. A horse with colic?
We know that one of the first actions if a horse is colicking is often to cut off all access to food, which is why it is important to have a basket to place on the head of the recovering equine. 🍏
3. A swelling or swellings?
We had written a complete blog article about regularly applying clay, and of course, this advice applies more than ever here. You can also opt for applying ice packs, held in place with coercive bandages. 🧊
4. Itching? Cracks?
A small jar of petroleum jelly tucked in my pharmacy is really handy more often than one might think. It will be a true skin protector, to use for example on chapped lips or a damaged corner of the mouth. 👄
